READING, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team got back into the win column with an 11-0 win at Albright College on Tuesday afternoon.
Nick Colon went 7.0 innings started the game on the mound and went 7.0 innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out nine.
Morgan D'Amico and
Brian Van Etten pitched the eight and ninth innings for the shutout.
The Knights put three runs in on the board with two outs in the second inning.
Anthony Rakotz hit a solo homerun.
Colton Shaub followed with a double and scored on a single by
Tyler Kilmer. Kilmer came around to score on a double by
Donovan Brooks for a 3-0 lead.
Neumann added an unearned run in the third as
Andrew Curran scored as Rakotz reached on a Lion's error. Rakotz hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to score
Josh Finger and put the Knights up 5-0.
AJ Nardo singled to score
Thomas Elgrim in the sixth. Curran scored another run in the seventh on a single by Shaub.
Curren hit a two-run homerun in the eighth with Finger on base for a 9-0 lead. Shaub and Kilmer scored on a single by Elgrim in the ninth to plate the 10
th and 11
th runs of the game.
The Lions were held to just three hits while the Knights tallied 16.
Neumann (9-8) gets back into conference action as it heads to Marywood for a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon beginning at 12:00 PM.
