CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University Track & Field teams set the tone for the spring by competing at the Danny Curran Invite, hosted by Widener University this weekend.
The action started on Friday with a couple of the throwing events. In the women's discus,
Allison Siravo led all Neumann athletes with a final toss of 21.26 meters.
Sydney Wilson was right behind with a 20.95. In the shot put, Siravo put up a best throw of 9.38 meters, equaling the best of her collegiate career, with Wilson hurling an 8.11, which is the best outdoor throw of her career.
On Saturday,
Djeneba Konake competed in the 100-meter with a time of 14.82 seconds. She was also in the 200 with a time of 30.91. Leading the way for the Neumann 200-meter runners was
Aniyah Holmes who finished with a time of 27.64 seconds.
Kozette Quinn was right behind with a 27.71, and
Janell Goldsmith had a 30.27.
Quinaya Barker and
Neshaya Overton closed the Knights' runner with times of 31.15 and 32.06.
Quinn was the highest finisher in the 400-meter run, completed her lap in 1:04.32. Holmes had a 1:05.23 and
Sahdahya Addy had a 1:10.20.
Kyleigh Joniec was only a couple of seconds off her pace with a 1:12.44, which shaved four seconds off of her personal best. Barker, Goldsmith, and Overton rounding things out with times of 1:14.28, 1:19.11, and 1:19.38.
Katie Baier was the lone runner in the 800-meter and finished in 2:50.27. The quad of Quinn, Addy, Holmes, and Goldsmith completed the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:43.54.
In the field events, Siravo came back for the hammer throw and finished with a throw of 23.77 meters. In the javelin, Joniec led the Knights with an effort of 25.97 meters. Wilson and Siravo were right behind them at 22.65 and 15.04, respectively. Addy participated in in the long jump and had a final jump of 4.37 meters.
On the men's side,
Hakeem Hall finished the 400-meter in 55.72 seconds.
Tim Connell got his season started with his 2:21.93 in the 800. He also had a 4:43.08 in the 1500-meter with
Nahshon Harrison-Fobbs grabbing a 5:09.87 in the same race.
Carlos Wylde-Gladbach participated in the javelin throw and had a toss of 27.17 meters. In the long jump, Hall had a leap of 5.61 meters.
Neumann will try to better their times and distances in their next meet on Friday and Saturday, April 5
th and 6
th, when they compete at the Delaware Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware, in Newark.
