Women’s Lacrosse Blows Through Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team traveled north to take on their Atlantic East rivals, Centenary University on Monday afternoon, defeating them by a final score of 20-7.
 
Lindsey Fagan got the scoring started at the 13:33 mark after receiving a pass from Maggie Blemings. Although Centenary was able to equalize, the Knights pulled away with five straight goals over the next seven minute. Fagan added three more, Blemings got on the board as well as Ainsley George. The Cyclones got one back with a minute left in the period to make it a 6-2 game after 15 minutes.
 
Centenary opened the scoring in the second just 2:35 in, but again, the Knights went on another extended run, this time, it was six in a row. Cionni Warrington started it at the 12:05 mark before Fagan scored another three goals, all in a row. Lian Sydorowicz and Blemings close out the run for a 12-3 lead. With 5:29 left in the half, the Cyclones popped one home but the Knights had the last tow goals of the quarter as Morghan Stiles and Adriana O'Heron made it a 14-4 lead after 30 minutes.
 
Although the Cyclones, got on the board to open the third, Neumann scored the only other goals in the quarter. Maggie Miller, Blemings, O'Heron, and Stiles were the contributors as the Knights pulled ahead by 13 with 15 minutes left.
 
The final quarter was evenly played as Sydoroqicz scored with the player-up advantage, 45 seconds in. Centenary notched the next two goals before Gia Caso got into the act with a player-up goal of her own to close out the scoring.
 
Fagan had a monster day with seven goals and two assists. Her nine points puts her in the top-ten all-time at Neumann. Blemings had three goals and five assists as she now has over 100 assists as a Knight. O'Heron, Sydorowicz, and Stiles each had two goals with O'Heron adding an assist. Kyra Powers led the team with three caused turnovers to go with her four ground balls. Warrington led the squad with five ground balls. Catriona Corrigan made two saves while Kortney Kaelin made a save as well.
 
Neumann (6-7, 1-2 Atlantic East) will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Immaculata University for a 4:00 PM start.
