Women’s Lacrosse Upends Gwynedd Mercy on Senior Day

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team celebrated their 2024 seniors by defeating Gwynedd Mercy University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 18-7.
 
90 seconds into the game, Ainsley George the Knights rolling with an unassisted goal. Lindsey Fagan would follow with two goals in 38 seconds, including her 200th as a Neumann Knight. Five minutes later, Maggie Miller made it a 4-0 game. Gwynedd Mercy got on the board with three minutes left in the quarter, but the Knights responded as Bekah Brosky notched with 13 seconds left for a 5-1 lead.
 
Neumann dominated the second, picking up six goals and shutting out the Griffins. Maggie Blemings got the period started with a goal just 36 seconds in. Fagan grabbed the hat-trick 71 seconds later. Gia Caso earned up player-up goal at the 11 minute mark before Fagan scored 2:30 later. Morghan Stiles picked up the Knights' 10th goal of the game with 6:21 remaining in the half with Blemings rounding out the quarter.
 
58 seconds into the third, Blemings made it a 12-1 game before Gwynedd Mercy scored four of the next six goals. Neumann's goals during that stretch came from Leia DiNuova, her first of the season, and Adriana O'Heron, her fifth. The Knights rattled off four in a row, early in the fourth, as Brosky, Miller, Cionni Warrington, and George got on the board, before the Griffins nabbed the last two.
 
Fagan led the Knights offensively with four goals and five assists, adding two ground balls and four draw controls. Blemings followed with a hat-trick and two assists, with two draw controls. Miller had a solid two-way game with two goals and an assist along with a team-high five ground balls and five draw controls. Catriona Corrigan made six saves over the first three quarters while Kortney Kaelin mopped with one save.
 
Neumann(7-8, 2-3 Atlantic East) will close out the regular season on Wednesday afternoon as they host Marymount University. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
