ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 22-5 loss against Marymount University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday afternoon.
Marymount scored the first goal of the game 52 seconds into the first quarter and added on with four more over the next four minutes. Neumann then went on a two goal run over four minutes of play as
Ainsley George scored her 31
st of the year and
Cionni Warrington would follow. The Saints potted home two more to end the quarter with a 7-2 lead.
The second quarter started similarly as Marymount scored five more to extend the lead to 10. With 4:40 left in the half,
Lindsey Fagan picked up an unassisted goal, her 45
th of the season. The Saints responded with two more goals for a 14-3 advantage at the break.
Warrington opened the scoring in the third with her 24
th of the season but Marymount would again go on a run, this time it was four goals.
Maggie Blemings ended the scoring in the third with 6:01, grabbing her 16
th of the year. Marymount would go on to score the only four goals of the game, sealing the Knights' fate.
Warrington led the offense with two goals.
Maggie Miller was strong throughout the contest with seven draw controls and two ground balls.
Leia DiNuova stood out defensively with three ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers. In addition to her goal, Fagan picked up three draw controls.
Catriona Corrigan made eight saves in the first three quarters and
Kortney Kaelin made five saves in her 15 minutes of play.
Neumann (7-9, 2-4 Atlantic East) will now visit Immaculata University this Saturday in the Atlantic East Conference tournament's first round.
