ASTON, Pa. – The Neuman University baseball team dropped an 8-6 decision to Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights had 16 hits in the game with
AJ Nardo,
Anthony Rakotz and
Josh Finger each having three. Nardo and Rakotz also knocked in three runs each.
Michael Whitmore took the loss, going 6.0 innings, allowing seven runs, six earned, on nine hits and struck out four.
Gatlin Hovenstine pitched 3.0 innings and allowed one run on two hits and struck out three.
The Chargers came out and scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Nardo led off the bottom of the first with a single. Rakotz followed with a homerun to cur the lead in half, 4-2. LBC held the 4-2 lead after one inning.
In the second,
Nick Glebocki doubled and scored on a single by Nardo for a 4-3 game. The Chargers plated two runs in the top of the fourth to extend their lead to three, 6-3. Lancaster Bible added a run in the sixth for a 7-3 score.
In the bottom of the eighth, Nardo hit a two-run single and came around to score on a single by Rakotz for a 7-6 score. The Chargers added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. With the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth, the Knights were not able to get the runs across and fell 8-6.
Neumann (14-17) will host Immaculata on Friday afternoon to start the Atlantic East Conference weekend series. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
