ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball were handed a 15-7 loss against Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Friday afternoon.
Immaculata got things going in the first inning with runs on an RBI single and a delayed steal of home. They added on in the second with two runs scoring on errors and a sacrifice fly, making it a 5-0 game.
Tyler Kilmer led off the bottom of the third with a triple down the right field line.
Anthony Rakotz drove him home on a groundout, pulling Neumann within four. The Mighty Macs regained a five-run lead in the fifth with an RBI single. They were able to pull away in the sixth with a five-run inning for an 11-1 lead.
After the stretch,
Donovan Brooks singled into left with one out. After he moved to second on a passed ball, he advanced to third when
AJ Nardo singled. Kilmer walked to load the bases and Rakotz drove in a run on a single to right.
Andrew Curran also singled in a run followed by a
Zion Spearman two-run single, pulling the Knights within six. Immaculata responded with a four-run inning of their own, in the eighth.
Kilmer led off the ninth with a walk and moved to second on a Rakotz single. Two batters later, Spearman walked to load the base. Kilmer scored on a wild pitch and Rakotz scored on a wild pitch but that would be as close as the Knights would get.
Brooks led the Knights, going 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Rakotz was 2 for 5 with two runs batted in and two runs and Nardo was 1 for 4 with a walk and a run.
Neumann (14-18, 2-11 Atlantic East) and Immaculata will continue this weekend's three-game set with a doubleheader on Saturday in Immaculata starting at noon.
