Baseball Falls Twice at Immaculata

IMMAACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team was swept in an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against Immaculata University. They fell by scores of 5-0 and 13-2.
 
In the game one, Immaculata got on the board in the second inning with an RBI groundout and didn't look back. They doubled their lead in the third with a run-scoring error. In the fourth, two-run triple and a run-scoring wild pitch sealed the Knights' fate.
 
Game two featured another quick start by the Mighty Macs as they scored the game's opening run in the first on an RBI fielder's choice. In the third, they plated a run on a sacrifice fly. They put together a five-run fourth thanks to an RBI single, three straight bases-loaded walks, and a sacrifice fly. Immaculata continued the offense with am RBI single in the fifth.
 
In the seventh, Neumann tried to make a comeback. With one away, Nick Glebocki reached on an error and moved to second on a Benny Licata walk. After Glebocki stole third, Colton Shaub drove him in on a sacrifice fly.
 
Donovan Brooks led off the top of the eighth with a walk and quickly stole second. With two away, adding a Tyler Kilmer walk, both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Coming up next was Andrew Curran and as he was walked, Brooks scored in a wild pitch to pull the Knights within six. The Mighty Macs put the game away on the bottom of the frame with another five-run inning.
 
Licata led Neumann in game two with a 2 for 3 game and a walk. Nick Colon pitched four innings of relief in an effort to keep the Knights close. He went four innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk, striking out one.
 
Neumann (14-20, 2-13 Atlantic East) will return to action on Tuesday when they host St. Mary's College of Maryland in a non-conference game starting at 3:30pm.
