ASTON, Pa.
– Neumann University has appointed Dr. Chuck Sack to a senior leadership role on the university's advancement team. On June 10, he will assume fundraising duties for the school's comprehensive capital campaign as a major gifts officer.
Sack has served as Neumann's director of athletics and recreation since 2003. During his tenure as athletic director, Neumann grew its varsity sports offerings from 17 to 23 and expanded its club sports and recreation offerings, including the successful eSports team.
The men's ice hockey program won the NCAA Division III national championship in 2009 and multiple sports collected 29 conference championships during Sack's tenure.
In October of 2023, Neumann established a partnership with Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education to build the Ed Snider Ice Arena on campus. The collaboration requires that the university raise $15 million by October 2025 to match the Snider commitment to the new athletic facility.
"Chuck is uniquely positioned to take on this role to help Neumann raise resources and friends," according to Dr. Chris Domes, Neumann's president. "His experience and background of leading Neumann athletics for over twenty years makes him the right person at the right time for this critical work."
Sack led the launch of Neumann's athletics website, neumannathletics.com, in September 2007 and was a leading team member in the design and construction of the Mirenda Center, Neumann's turf field, the renovation of Bruder athletic fields, and expansion of the Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Tennis Courts.
In addition to these achievements, Sack also took leading roles in the formation of the Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) in 2008 and more recently in the creation of the Atlantic East Conference in 2018. These conferences helped secure access to NCAA tournament opportunities and gave Neumann athletics a strong regional base. He served as the chair of both conferences and served on multiple NCAA committees.
David Deal, associate athletic director, will assume the role of interim athletic director while Neumann University conducts a national search for its next AD.
