WENHAM, Mass. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team fell in a pair of games at day two of the Gordon Invitational. The Knights dropped a 3-0 decision to Lasell University and 3-1 to host Gordon College.
Set scores against the Lasers were 25-16, 25-18 and 26-24.
Melissa Eddy led the Knights with 14 kills.
Nayeli Cruz added eight kills.
Dani Smith handed out 16 assists and 14 digs.
In the third set, Lasell held a 23-12 lead when the Knights went on a 12-1 run to pull even at 24, thanks to serving from
Hannah Strohm. The Lasers were able to score the next two points to take the set and the match.
In the host Scots, Gordon took the first set 25-20. Neumann came back to win set two 25-18. The Scots won the next two sets 25-23 and 25-16.
Jenna Jones tallied eight kills for the Knights.
Julia Solomon added seven. Smith and Jones each dished out 11 assists. Strohm notched 16 digs. Jones had 12 and Smith added 10.
Leading 22-18 in the second set, Smith notched a service error between two Scot attack errors for the 25-18 win. The Knights jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the third set. Gordon chipped its way back in and took the set 25-23.
Neumann (0-3) heads to Ursinus on Wednesday evening for non-conference action against the Bears beginning at 7:00 PM.
