ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team opened its home schedule with a 3-0 win over Bryn Mawr College on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.
Melissa Eddy led the Knights with 12 kills and a .391 hitting percentage.
Hannah Strohm tallied 11 digs. Strohm,
Dani Smith and
Jenna Jones all handed out 11 assists. Jones also notched five service aces.
Tied at five in the first set, the Knights rattled off five straight points for a 10-5 lead. Neumann continued to extend its advantage, leading 18-8 and 22-11 in the set. A kill by
Delaney Jack gave the Knights the 25-14 first set win.
Set two went back and forth. Down 4-2, the Knights scored five straight points to take a 7-4 edge. The Owls battled back and tied the set at eight. Neumann added to its lead, just to have Bryn Mawr answer and stay within striking distance. The Owls pulled to within one, 22-21, but three straight kills by Eddy gave the Knights the 25-21 set two win.
Down 8-5 in the third set, Neumann scored eight of the next nine points to take a 13-9 lead. The Knights finished the match scoring eight of the final nine points for the 25-14 set and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (2-5) will host the 2024 Knights Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Knights will face DeSales on Friday evening beginning at 8:00 PM.
