ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Field Hockey team defeated Lancaster Bible College in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 2-1.

After a scoreless first quarter in which Neumann outshot Lancaster Bible, 6-0, it was the Chargers who scored on a counter-attack just 41 seconds in the second for a 1-0 lead. That lead held through halftime even though the Knights continued to dominate possession.

With 8:38 left in the third quarter, Gabriella Cappelli found a rebound after a penalty corner and put it into the back of the net for her third goal of the season, tying the game. The Knights took the lead with 58 seconds left in the quarter when Casey McGee dangled through three defenders and notched her first collegiate goal, giving her squad the lead.

Although the fourth went scoreless, Neumann continued to be the aggressor. They outshot Lancaster Bible 30-4, 19-2 on goal. The Knights also led in penalty corners by an 18-2 margin. Natalia Thomas led the attack with seven shots, six on goal. Cappelli and Meghan Sheldrick each took four shots while Cadence Conti came off the bench and three of her five shots forced a save.
