REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team dropped a 4-2 Middle Atlantic Conference game against Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon.
The game started as a tightly contested back-and-forth affair until the 16:03 mark of the first when Stevenson struck on a power play goal. They made it 2-0 just 48 seconds later, on an even strength goal.
After a scoreless second period, Neumann got on the board early in the third.
Lucas Culhane was able to move into the slot and wrist home his seventh goal of the season with 15:35 left in the period.
Tyler Inlow and
Tyler Ray had assists as the Knights pulled within one. With 6:02 left in regulation, Stevenson scored a shorthanded goal on a breakaway to make it a 3-1 game. With under two minutes left, Neumann pulled the goalie for an extra attacker and made it pay off. Ray nestled a pass across the goalmouth to
Matt Dimaline who one-timed in his third goal of the season, pulling the Knights within one, but the Mustangs scored an empty-netter to seal the win.
Dimaline led the Knights offensively with eight shots on goal.
TJ Ezzard had five shots and three blocked shots while Ray and
Max Donohoe had four each.
Cole DeFazio made 53 saves in goal, keeping Neumann close throughout the afternoon.
Neumann (8-4-2, 5-3-2 MAC) will return to action on Friday night when they host Wilkes University in another MAC conference battle. Puck drop at the IceWorks Skating Complex is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
