Comeback Falls Short against Wilkes

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision against Wilkes University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest on Friday night.
 
Wilkes got on the board just 2:45 into the game and followed seven minutes later with another even strength marker. The Colonels scored twice in the second period as well, including a power play goal for a 4-0 lead. Late in the second, Neumann went on the power play. With 3:02 left, Lucas Culhane grabbed his own rebound for his eighth goal of the season. Max Donohoe and Matt Dimaline grabbed the assists.
 
3:48 into the third period, Zack Smith slipped a pass to Donohoe and he wristed home his fourth goal of the season, pulling the Knights within one. Four minutes later, Neumann went on another power play and were able to convert. Tyler Inlow punched in a rebound for his fourth goal of the year. Tyler Ray and Judd Katz earned the assists as the Knights pulled within one. In spite of outshooting the Colonels 15-3 in the third period, Neumann could not find the tying goal.
 
Smith led the Knights' attack with six shots on goal. Dustin Patterson followed with four shots. Cole DeFazio made 19 saves in goal.
 
Neumann (8-5-2, 5-4-2 MAC) and Wilkes will clash again on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM.
