HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team tied Hood College in a back-and-forth game on Friday evening in MAC action. The Knights took the extra points in the shootout, winning 1-0.
Kaylynn Savoy opened the scoring 2:31 into the game.
Lian Sydorowicz and
Gia Santorello drew the assists on the opening goal. The Blazers tied the game four minutes later.
Cecelia Mick broke the tie and put Neumann up 2-1 off an assist from
Kaila Booth and the Knights took the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
The teams traded goals in the second period as well. Hood tied the game before Savoy scored her second goal of the contest for a 3-2 Neumann lead. Santorello picked up her second assist of the game on the power play goal. The Blazers answered 45 seconds later with power play goal to tie the game at three.
Neither team scored in the third period or overtime for the 3-3 tie. In the shootout, Sydorowicz was the lone shooter to score and give the Knights the 1-0 shootout win.
Noelle Woodard made 27 saves in the game. Savoy led the Knights with eight shots while Sydorowicz added seven.
Neumann (4-10-3, 3-8-3 MAC) is back home next weekend and will host Wilkes on Friday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
