WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – On Thursday evening, the Neumann University Men's Hockey team took a trip up the Northeast Extension to take on Wilkes University but were handed a 7-1 loss in their final Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) meeting of the regular season.
The Knights fell behind just over five minutes into the game and the deficit doubled seven minutes later. It looked like Neumann would go into the first intermission down by two but with 12 seconds remaining,
Tyler Ray notched his fifth goal of the season to pull within one before the break.
Just before the halfway point of the second, Wilkes reestablished the two-goal lead with a power play goal. They made it 4-1 just 29 seconds into the third then added three more just two and a half minutes apart, making it a six-goal lead with 13:08 left in regulation.
PJ Demitrio led the offensive effort with five shots on goal.
Tyler Inlow,
Max Donohoe, and
Tyler Kennedy followed with four shots each. Kennedy also contributed three blocked shots.
Logan Gorbitz made 26 saves in goal.
Neumann (10-6-2, 7-5-2 MAC) will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they go to Reading to battle Alvernia University. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
