OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey defeated Lebanon Valley College 5-2 in the consolation game of the 2025 Holiday Classic at Oswego State on Saturday afternoon.
Zack Smith netted a hat trick in the game.
PJ Demitrio scored two goals and added 14 faceoff wins.
Matt Dimaline tallied a pair of assists.
Matt Perdue made 33 saves in net for his second win of the season.
The Knights got on the board just 40 second into the game when Smith scored his first goal on the power play.
Dustin Patterson and
Cameron Hatziioannou drew the assists. Just five seconds later, Smith scored his second goal off a pass from Dimaline for an early 2-0 Neumann lead. Lebanon Valley netted a power play goal in the period for a 2-1 score after one.
Demitrio scored the only goal of the second period, an unassisted shorthanded goal at the 15:22 mark, for a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.
Demitrio put the Knights up 4-1 37 seconds into the third period.
Max Donohoe and Patterson tallied the assists. Midway through the period, the Flying Dutchmen made it 4-2. Smith scored an insurance goal at the 15:31 mark to put Neumann back up by three off assists from Dimaline and
Luke Croucher.
The Knights had 44 shots on goal, led by Smith with 7 and Demitrio and Donohoe each with five.
Neumann (8-2-2) is back into conference action next weekend as it heads to Stevenson for a pair of MAC games. The face-off on Friday is slated for 7:00 PM.
