LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team notched a 1-0 win over Lancaster Bible College on Thursday afternoon in a reschedule game from earlier this season.
The first quarter between the Knights and the Chargers ended in a scoreless draw. Neumann had two shots in the quarter along with the lone penalty corner.
The Knights kept on the pressure in the second quarter. In the 27
th minute, the Knights had a penalty corner opportunity.
Natalia Thomas got a shot off of the penalty corner, which was saved, but the sophomore got her own rebound and put it in the back of the cage.
Lancaster Bible initiated early pressure in the third quarter with a penalty corner in the first minute.
Caley Gee made the first of three saves in the game to keep the Chargers off the board.
Gee made another important stop five minutes into the fourth quarter. The Knights forced three penalty corners and four shots as time was winding down, but they could not get an insurance goal. Gee secured the win with a save with 11 seconds left on the clock.
The Knights outshot the Chargers 13-3 overall and 9-3 in net. Neumann tallied eight penalty corners. Gee finished with three saves for her first shutout of the season.
Neumann (8-5) heads to Marywood University on Saturday for Atlantic East action beginning at 12:00 PM.
