MADISON, N.J. – The Neumann University field hockey team fell at FDU-Florham 4-1 on Friday evening.

The Knights had back-to-back penalty corners early in the game but could not convert. Ayla Mergen had a shot blocked and Gabriella Cappelli put the ball on the net, but Neumann could not get the tally. FDU-Florham took the lead in the 10th minute off a penalty corner.

The Knights pressed offensively throughout the second quarter but could not take advantage of multiple opportunities. Neumann had five shots in a two-minute span but could not break the goal-line. Molly McGee had two quick shots, but both were saved by the Devil's goalie. FDU-Florham held the 1-0 lead at halftime.

FDU-Florham extended its lead early in the third quarter in the 34th minute. The Knights responded when Meghan Sheldrick found the back of the net in the 36th minute. The Devils quickly regained a two-goal advantage off a penalty corner in the 41st minute. Despite several attempts, including a penalty corner by Mergen and a wide shot from Rachel Roane, Neumann could not close the deficit before the end of the quarter.
