MEDIA, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball team earned their first win of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday night as they defeated Penn State Brandywine in a non-conference game by a final score of 74-65.
DJ Earl led the Knights offensively with 21 points while adding four assists and seven rebounds.
Bryan Etienne had 18 points with
Izaiah Johnson Young-El getting 13.
Donte Dupriest had a double-double by picking up 10 points and 10 rebounds along with a game-high five steals.
The first half started off close with Neumann carrying an early 9-7 lead, four minutes into the game. The Nittany Lions fought ahead with a 7-0 run over the next six minutes for a 16-9 lead. The Knights clawed right back with their own run of seven to tie the game at 16 at the 10 minute mark. Neither team made a significant mark until the later stages of the half. With 1:39 left, and the Knights up 32-31, Neuman pulled ahead by five before Penn State Brandywine got within one to close the half.
Over the first 4:38 of the second half, the Nittany Lions were able to pull ahead by five at 48-43, but the Knights went on a game-high 10 point jaunt, capped by an Earl three-pointer to take a 53-48 lead with 11:33 left. Penn State Brandywine got back within one over the next few minutes but again Neumann went on a 6-0 run for a 61-54 lead with five minutes left. The Nittany Lions would not go away, getting back within two with 1:45 left in regulation. An eight point run, punctuated by an Etienne slam, sealed the game as the Knights led by 10 with 12 seconds remaining.
Neumann (1-2) will try to get their record to .500 as they visit Swarthmore College in another non-conference game, tomorrow evening at 4:30 PM.
