ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team won its home opener 73-59 over Goucher College on Friday evening.
 
Donte Dupriest scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. DJ Earl also netted 25 points, including five from downtown. Bryan Etienne tallied 14 points.
 
The Gophers scored the first basket of the game. The Knights netted the next 10 points and built their lead to as many as 23 in the half, 30-7. Goucher went on a 13-4 run to cut into the deficit and a 34-20 score. Earl hit a three-pointer just before halftime and Neumann took a 37-20 lead into the break.
 
Over the first 5+ minutes of the second half, Goucher outscored Neumann 17-6 to pull within six, 43-37. Baskets from Dupriest and Julian Phillips put the Knights back up by double-digits. A jumper by Phillips with 10:37 on the clock put Neumann back up by double-figures for good, 51-41. The Knights lead swayed between 10-16 points over the final 10 minutes, and Neumann came away with the 73-59 win.
 
Neumann (2-3) heads to Widener on Thursday for a 7:00 non-conference start.
