COLMAR, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team, after winning on Friday night, took another win against Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 4-2.
After their previous meeting was a 3-0 result, Arcadia showed early that this would be a tougher challenge. With 7:16 left in the first, they got an unassisted breakaway goal for a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, Neumann found a response.
Tyler Kennedy made a pretty move to get deep into the offensive zone and slipped a pass to
Lucas Culhane. He deposited his second goal of the season to tie the game with 5:38 left in the first.
2:19 into the second, Arcadia converted on a 3-on-2 to reclaim the lead. It took until 6:51 remaining on the clock but again, Neumann found an answer.
Zack Smith backed his way into the zone and fired a pass across to a streaking
Jake Barkley and he scored his second of the year.
In the third period, while shorthanded,
Dustin Patterson fed
Matt Dimaline on a give-and-go, and Dimaline nudged in his second goal of the year for Neumann's first lead of the game with 12:51 left. At the 16:54 mark, Neumann sealed the game when
Ben Gibbons spun in his first goal of the season.
Dexton Mozell and
Akezhan Melis got the assists.
Dimaline led with four shots on goal. Mozell, Gibbons,
Sonny DiNubile,
Judd Katz, and Barkley add had three shots each in a balanced attack.
Logan Gorbitz got the win in goal and made 24 saves.
Neumann (4-2, 4-0 MAC) will try to extend their four game winning streak on Friday night when they host King's College for a 7:00 PM start.
