ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team swept this weekend's two-game series against Lebanon Valley College, picking up a 6-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
The scoring got started 6:50 into the game as
Dustin Patterson found a rebound and put home his first of the season.
Matt Dimaline and
Dustin Patterson earned assists as the Knights took the 1-0 lead. 26 seconds later,
Max Donohoe gloved down a clearing attempt and pushed it behind the net to Patterson who then threw it in front of the net and it hit
Tyler Ray and went in, double the Neumann edge. With 11:51 left in the first, and on the power play,
Jared Coccimiglio received a pass from Dimaline and wristed in his second of the season, making it 3-0 after 20 minutes.
The Knights continued to pressure the Flying Dutchmen net as
Sonny DiNubile moved in on a breakaway and finished his first goal of the season.
Lucas Culhane and Coccimiglio got the assists. At the 6:25 mark, Culhane successfully stole a puck during a forecheck. He connected with
Niko Tishkevich who fired in his third goal of the season, extending the lead to five.
Late in the third period, Donohoe got a feed from
Akezhan Melis in the corner and got his second of the season. Patterson earned the secondary assists as the Knights closed out the game with the win.
Patterson finished with a goal and three assists to lead Neumann's offense. Coccimiglio, DiNubile, and Donohoe each picked up a goal and an assist each.
Owen Johnston blocked four shots and Culhane blocked three to go with his two assists.
Christian Green made 35 save for his first collegiate shutout.
Neumann (2-2, 2-0) will be back in action on Friday night when they visit Arcadia University for a 7:00 PM start.
