Illian, Petruzzelli Named to United Soccer Coaches’ All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The United Soccer Coaches announced their Men's Soccer Division III All-Region teams on Tuesday afternoon, and two Neumann University players were recognized. Jordan Illian was selected to the All-Region V First Team and Dominic Petruzzelli earned Third Team status. These are Men's Soccer's first All-Region selections since the 2018 season.

Illian had a massive year for the three-time Atlantic East Conference Champs as he was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year. He was also selected to the All-Atlantic East First Team as a two-time conference Player of the Week and a one-time weekly Honor Roll Recipient. Notably, on October 11th in a game against Pratt Institute, he scored four goals and earned 10 points, setting single game records in program history in both categories. In total, he finished with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points with three of his goals as game-winners.

Petruzzelli was the anchor of the Knights' back line, being named the Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second time. He was also placed on the all-conference First Team. He started all 20 games for Neumann and logged over 1,600 minutes. In addition to his on-field work, the senior was named the Atlantic East Elite Scholar Athlete and was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

The Knights finished the season with an overall record of 13-4-3 and a conference record of 7-0. They defeated Gwynedd Mercy in the conference semifinals and Marymount in the championship, without giving up a single goal. With the Atlantic East Conference Championship came a third consecutive NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance.
