ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's hockey team battled against Alvernia University on Friday evening, falling 5-2 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) action.
The Golden Wolves scored the lone goal of the first period, coming at the 15:57 mark.
Sammie Haun scored her first collegiate goal 1:03 into the second period to tie the game at one.
Chloe Ballew drew the assist. While on the power play,
Charlotte Labre shot a rocket from the circle to give Neumann a 2-1 lead.
Kaila Booth and
Gia Santorello had the assists on the power play tally.
The Knights held the 2-1 lead until Alvernia scored two goals in 24 seconds later in the second. The Golden Wolves added another goal with 1:30 left in the second for a 4-2 score after two periods.
Alvernia added an insurance goal on the power play late in the third period for the 5-2 final.
Noelle Woodard made 29 saves in net for the Knights.
Neumann (2-7-0, 2-5-0 MAC) and Alvernia will face-off again tomorrow afternoon. Puck drop is slated for 2:00 PM.
