ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision against Alvernia University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) match-up on Saturday afternoon.

Charlotte Labre sent
Kaila Booth on a breakaway, and she scored her first goal of the season to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Nine seconds later, the Golden Wolves responded on a quick break of their own to tie the game. Alvernia took the lead at the 5:31 mark and then doubled the advantage five minutes later for a 3-1 lead. Neumann went on the power play late in the period and were able to convert as
Gia Santorello wristed home a point shot for her sixth goal of the season.
Kaylynn Savoy notched the assist as they pulled within one.
In the third period, Alvernia scored five minutes into the frame. They would close out the game with one final marker at the 13:39 mark.
Savoy and
Kenna Sanders led the offensive effort with four shots on goal each. Labre had a strong game in the faceoff circle winning seven of the 10 draws she took.
Marissa Rumsey topped the defensive corps with three blocked shots and
Noelle Woodard made 33 saves in goal.
Neumann (4-12-3, 3-10-3 MAC) will return to the ice on Thursday night when they visit Arcadia University for a 7:00 PM start.
