Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team opened the 2025 season with a 17-10 loss against Stockton University on Tuesday afternoon.

Lindsey Fagan led the Knights with three goals and an assist to go with four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and four draw controls. Cassidy Starner picked up two goals and an assist while both Neve Murphy and Alena Catka scored two goals each, with Catka contributing four draw controls. Abbey Fenton made 12 saves in goal.

Neumann and Stockton traded goals to start as Fagan picked up the Knights' first goal of the season at the 11:19 mark, tying the game up at one, and Murphy tied the game at two with 7:13 left in the first. The Ospreys scored the last two goals of the quarter, giving them a 4-2 lead after 15 minutes.

Stockton extended their edge early in the second before Fagan stuck again on a free position shot with the player advantage. The Ospreys scored three of the next four goals, with a Fagan hat-trick goal in between and it was an 8-4 Stockton lead going into halftime.

Neumann gave up the first two goals of the third in a span of 28 seconds and they found themselves down by six. Starner and Catka picked up goals with an Ospreys marker in-between, making it an 11-6 game heading into the final quarter.

Krista Geibler notched a free position goal 49 seconds into the fourth, but Stockton rattled off five straight to put the game away. Goals by Murphy, Catka, and Starner got some momentum back for the Knights, but the comeback stalled there.

Neumann (0-1) will be back in action on Tuesday, February 25th for their home-opener as they'll host Delaware Valley University at 4:00 PM.
