ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team settled for a 3-3 tie against King's College on Friday night, but it was King's who grabbed the extra point in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) standings with a 1-0 shootout win.
Tyler Inlow led the effort with two goals and an assist.
Judd Katz and
Matt Dimaline led in shots with six each. Katz also had two blocked shots.
Luke Croucher was strong in the faceoff circle, winning 18 of his 27 draws.
Cole DeFazio made 21 saves in the crease.
After a scoreless first period, Neumann got on the board with a power play goal with 6:15 left in the second. Inlow grabbed the rebound after his own shot and left the puck for Croucher. He snapped a pass across to
Max Donohoe who powered in his 11
th goal of the season. One minute later,
Dustin Patterson streaked into the zone and worked the puck back to
Tyler Kennedy. Kennedy threw it towards the net and Inlow was able to deflect it in for a 2-0 lead.
At the 8:03 mark of the third, King's pulled within one but 95 seconds later, the Knights got the two goal lead back. Inlow moved into the offensive zone with speed but was forced to the corner. With a sharp angle, he found a way to sneak it in for his eighth of the season for the 3-1 lead. The Monarchs got right back with a shorthanded goal at the 12:07 mark, and a power play goal two minutes later. Neither team could strike for the rest of the game and King's won the shootout, scoring the only goal in the third round.
Neumann (15-6-3, 12-5-3) will conclude the regular season as they'll host Lebanon Valley College on Saturday evening starting at 5:00 PM.
