COLMAR, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team defeated Arcadia University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game on Friday night by a final score of 3-2.
It took a little while but with 6:29 left in the first, Arcadia used the power play to pick up the game's first goal for a 1-0 lead. That would hold up as the only goal of the opening 20 minutes. Just under five minutes into the second period, Arcadia moved in on a 2-on-1 and made it a 2-0 game.
34 seconds later,
Cameron Hatziioannou stole an Arcadia outlet pass and fired a slapper on goal. The save was made but
Zack Smith tucked it in, cutting their deficit to 2-1. With 5:11 left in the period, another Hatziioannou point shot got through traffic but this time is was a deflection by Smith for his second goal of the game and team-leading 12
th of the season, tying the game. 38 seconds later, the Neumann moved in on a 2-on-1 and although
PJ Demitrio's pass was in his skates,
Matt Dimaline was able to recover it and push it home for his sixth of the season for the 3-2 lead.
In addition to his two goals, he led the team in shots with six while
Tyler Ray and
Max Donohoe had four each.
Max Mila,
Tyler Kennedy, and
Judd Katz all blocked three shots as
Cole DeFazio made 39 saves in goal.
Neumann (12-6-2, 9-5 MAC) will return to action on Wednesday afternoon as they host Stevenson University in another MAC conference game. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
