ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team upended Eastern University in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 18-2.
Alena Catka led the Knights' effort with four goals and two assists as well as six draw controls.
Krista Geibler nabbed three goals and two assists, and
Lindsey Fagan picked up a hat trick with four draw controls.
Gia Caso pushed the defense with three draw controls and
Sarah Kiraly made three saves in goal for the win.
Neumann got off to a powerful start as they scored nine goals in the first quarter. Catka had three, Fagan picked up two, Geibler,
Neve Murphy,
Cassidy Starner, and
Cionni Warrington notched one each for a big lead after 15 minutes of play.
The Knights kept up the pressure as they had another shutout period and they were able to strike six times. Geibler scored twice and
Tessa Vannello,
Ainsley George, and Catka scored one each and Neumann took a 15-0 lead into the half.
Eastern picked up the first two goals of the third quarter but
Maggie Miller and
Lea Mirabile responded for a 17-2 heading into the final quarter.
Gia Caso scored with the women-up advantage with 2:42 left for the lone goal in the fourth.
Neumann (3-3) will be back in action on Tuesday when they visit Notre Dame of Maryland for a 4:00 PM start down in Baltimore.
