Knights Drop Four-setter to Eagles

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Eastern University on Friday evening in a non-conference match-up.
 
Victor John led the Knights with eight kills. Trey Edmonds added seven. Noah Banaag handed out 26 assists. Christian DeMarco notched 19 digs. The team tallied 19 total blocks. John had five block assists and Isaiah Raye-Ryan added a block solo and four block assists.
 
The first set remained close with neither team holding more than a two-point advantage. Tied at 25, the Knights took advantage of two Eagles attack errors to take set one 27-25.
 
In set two, Eastern took a 14-12 advantage and scored the next six points for a 20-12 score. Neumann answered with the next four points. The teams traded the rest of the way and the Eagles took the set 25-19. Eastern held the pace of the third set and won 25-16 to take a 2-1 match lead.
 
The fourth set started back and forth. With the Eagles holding a one-point edge, 25-14, they five of the next seven points for a 20-16 lead. The Knights scored the next three points to pull within one, 20-19. Eastern finished the match by scoring five of the next six points for the 25-20 win.
 
Neumann (8-9) gets back into conference action on Wednesday when it travels to Saint Elizabeth University. Action is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
