Women’s Lacrosse Powers Past Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team defeated Bryn Athyn College in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday night by a final score of 19-6.
 
Alena Catka led the Knights with six goals and assists. Lindsey Fagan had four goals and eight draw controls while Cassidy Starner had a goal and two assists. Abbey Fenton made five saves and Sarah Kiraly made one.
 
The Knights rocketed ahead by scoring the scoring the first five goals of the game and didn't look back. Catka scored three of them with Starner and Cionni Warrington scoring the others before the Lions found the back of the net with a woman up goal. Maggie Miller closed out the quarter with a goal with 36 seconds left for a dominating start.
 
Fagan and Catka opened the second with goals over the first 3:45 of the quarter. After the Lions struck for their second goal, Neumann went on a three-goal run as Fagan scored twice and Neve Murphy once over a stretch of 99 seconds. Bryn Athyn put up two in a row for the only time in the game but Krista Geibler close the half with a goal with under a minute left for a 12-4 lead.
 
Neumann kept their collective feet on the gas as they opened the third with another three-goal run, thanks to Catka, Adriana O'Heron, and Ainsley George. They also close the quarter with three in a row with Fagan, Catka, and O'Heron putting the Knights up by 13. After the Lions scored early in the fourth, Taylor Deppi scored her first collegiate goal, closing out a successful night.
 
Neumann (5-6), with this win, they ended a three-game losing streak. They'll look to continue the good times on Wednesday afternoon when they visit Salisbury University for a 4:00 PM start.
