ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Volleyball team fell to Lancaster Bible College in straight sets, 3-0, in a United East Conference match on Thursday night at The Mirenda Center.
Victor John led the Knights with a hitting percentage of .538, contributing eight kills on 13 attempts.
Trey Edmonds showcased his versatility by accumulating nine kills with a .292 hitting percentage, as well as nine digs and two assists.
Noah Banaag was a strong playmaker, recording 21 assists. Additionally,
Mason Fleisher made an impact with four total blocks and an ace.
In the first set, Neumann's John and Banaag each contributed with important kills early on, keeping the score competitive at 3-2. However, the Chargers capitalized on a series of small runs to gradually extend their lead. Despite contributions from
JP Perdomo and Fleisher, the visitors maintained their momentum, leading to a 25-12 conclusion in favor of Lancaster Bible.
The second set saw the Knights score the initial point with a kill from Perdomo set by Banaag. Edmonds contributed significantly with multiple kills, including a notable sequence at the beginning with points at 1-1 and 3-2. Fleisher and John also added to the score with key plays, while a block by Fleisher and Perdomo added another point at 16-13. The visitors regained momentum and closed the set with a 25-20 win.
The third set began with Neumann trailing after the first point, but they quickly leveled the score with a service error by Lancaster Bible. The Knights'
Isaiah Raye-Ryan played a key role in a five-point streak from 7-7, contributing to errors by the opponents and helping Neumann take a 10-7 lead. Despite a back-and-forth battle where Lancaster Bible managed to pull ahead, Neumann tied the score at multiple points, including at 20-20, with contributions from John and Perdomo. However, Lancaster Bible finished strong, winning the set 25-23 after consecutive kills.
Neumann (11-10, 4-2 United East) will be back in action on Saturday when they visit the University of Valley Forge for a tri-match against the Patriots and York College(N.Y.). The action is scheduled for an 11:00 AM start.
