ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team controlled Centenary University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday afternoon, putting together a 17-4 win.
Neve Murphy and
Lindsey Fagan led the way for the Knights with four goals each. Fagan added four ground balls, seven draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
Alena Catka contributed three goals and four draw controls.
Maggie Miller,
Krista Geibler,
Molly Schmeltzer, and
Rex Thenor joined Fagan with two caused turnovers each.
The Knights took control of the game just 30 seconds in as Murphy scored. She added another at the 11:56 with the woman-up. Fagan, Geibler, and two by Catka closed out the first quarter as Neumann led 6-0. Fagan and Murphy started with second quarter with goals in the first 3:03. Centenary scored with the woman up with 9:42 left in the half but Fagan scored twice with Murphy and Miller adding single markers, making it a 12-1 game at the break.
The Cyclones scored the first goal on the third but
Gia Caso, Adrianna O'Heron, with an assist from
Morgan Keely, and
Kenna Sanders would respond and the Knights had a 15-2 lead with 15 minutes left. 1:05 into the fourth, Centenary scored with the advantage but not long after, Catka would answer. The Cyclones scored a women down goal with 2:06 left and Neumann's
Tessa Vannello would finish the action with a goal with 18 seconds remaining.
Neumann (8-8, 3-1 Atlantic East) will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 23
rd as they'll challenge Marywood University for a 4:00 PM start.
