ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team hosted its first postseason contest and defeated Saint Elizabeth University 3-0 in the United Eat first round. Set scores were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-21.
Trey Edmonds stood out for the Knights with 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Christian DeMarco led the defense with 14 digs while
JP Perdomo added 11.
Noah Banaag handed out 33 assists.
The Knights were able to score four straight points to take the first set 25-17. Perdomo tallied a kill and a service aces before Edmonds wrapped up set one with two kills.
Set two went back and forth and with a 22-21 edge, Edmonds tallied two straight kills to get to set points. The teams then traded service errors and the Knights came away with the 25-22 win.
Leading 21-20 in the third set, the Knights tallied three consecutive points for a 24-20 advantage. After an Eagles point, Perdomo sealed the match with a kill.
Neumann (14-11) heads to the United East semifinals on Wednesday and will to travel to No. 1 seeded Lancaster Bible. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
