ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team will take part in the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Championship Tournament starting on Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights are the number two seed in the tournament thanks to an 11-4 conference record. They finished the season with the same record as Marymount University, but the Saints earned the top seed, winning two of three against Neumann during the regular season. Centenary University is the third seed with an 8-7 record with No. 4 Immaculata right behind them at 7-8.
Leading the Knights offensively with an MVP type season in
Thomas Carroll. He's hitting .395 with six home runs, 11 doubles, five triples, 40 runs batted in, and 40 runs scored.
Brandon Colon is hitting .398 with three homers, 16 doubles, a triple, 36 RBI, and 25 runs, with
Joe Boccio hitting .325 with five homers, 10 doubles, 31 RBI, and 29 runs.
On the mound,
Nick Colon is the ace with a 5-1 record. In 43 innings, he's allowed 28 earned runs on 52 hits and 16 walks, while striking out, 17.
Jack Valentine leads the team in strikeouts with 25, putting together a 2-1 record and a 4.88 ERA.
Chris Balshuweit has been a two-way threat with a 2-0 record and three saves and a 2.60 ERA, along with a batting average of .333 with two homers, three doubles, nine RBI, and 13 runs in just 66 at-bats.
The action in the double-elimination tournament begins on Wednesday as Neumann hosts Centenary at Bruder Field and Marymount hosts Immaculata at Capital One Ballpark in Tysons, Va.
The tournament then transfers to Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va. on Friday as Wednesday's losers battle in an elimination game, followed by a showdown between Wednesday's winners. The final game of the day will be another elimination contest. On Saturday, again at Shenandoah, the two remaining teams will play for the championship and the NCAA Tournament auto-bid.
Neumann just took two out of three in the regular season's final weekend against the Cyclones. They were 1-2 against the Saints, and 2-1 against the Mighty Macs.
The action on Wednesday afternoon starts at 3:30 PM for the first home playoff game for the Knights since 2021. Admission is free. For the games played on Friday and Saturday at Shenandoah University, admission is five dollars per day.
