Women’s Lacrosse Nabs Five Atlantic East Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference announce their postseason awards in Women's Lacrosse on Wednesday afternoon, and five Neumann University athletes were recognized. Lindsey Fagan was named the Player of the Year and was also named to the All-Conference First team. Alena Catka and Maggie Miller were also named to the First team as Krista Geibler and Molly Schmeltzer were named to the Second team.
 
Fagan finished the season with 57 goals, which was third in the conference, 22 assists, which was tied for fifth, and 79 points, which was tied for fourth. She added 80 draw controls, 17 caused turnovers, and 33 ground balls. This season, she was named to the weekly Honor Roll a total of six times. On April 12th, she became the all-time leading goal scorer in Neumann program history. This is her third First team selection after being named to the Second Team in her first two seasons.
 
Catka, a two-time conference Player of the Week, and a two-time weekly Honor Roll recipient, was second in the Atlantic East in goals, and third in points. She was also fourth in draw controls. This is her second all-conference selection after being named to the Second team last year, as well as being named the 2024 Rookie of the Year.
 
Miller shined on the defensive side of the field with 31 caused turnovers, which was tied for fourth in the conference. She also had 21 draw controls and 44 ground balls. Offensively, the Philadelphia native was smart in transition, adding 11 goals and six assists for 17 points. This is her second all-conference First team selection.
 
Geibler was honored by the Atlantic East four times during the regular season. She was named the Defensive Player of the Week on March 31st and was named to the weekly Honor Roll three times. A strong two-way player, she finished with 33 goals and 15 assists for 48 points. The junior added 31 caused turnovers, which was tied for fifth in the conference, 19 ground balls, and 16 draw controls.
 
Schmeltzer was a durable defensive presence as she picked up 20 ground balls and caused 24 turnovers, playing and starting in all 19 games this season. On March 24th, she was named to the Atlantic East Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
 
The Knights finished the season with a 10-9 overall record and were 4-1 in conference play, earning the second seed in the conference tournament. They defeated Marywood University in the semifinals, clinching their first conference championship game appearance since 2016.
