WINCHESTER, Va. – On Friday, the Neumann University Baseball team dropped their first game of the day against Marymount University, 7-4 but defeated Immaculata University in an elimination game by final score of 6-5 in 10 innings to keep their season alive.

Donovan Brooks led the way by hitting 5 for 9 with two doubles, a walk, three runs batted in, and three runs scored. Andrew Brown was 3 for 5 with three walks, a hit by pitch, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. Thomas Carroll had a strong first game with two doubles, and an RBI while JerVal Shuler was key in game two with a double, two RBI, and a run.

The first two innings of game one went scoreless but in the third, Marymount got on the board with a wild pitch. The Knights tied the game in the sixth on an RBI double by Carroll, but in the bottom of the frame, the Saints took a 4-1 lead on an three-run home run. Neumann responded quickly with a two-run single by Brooks in the seventh to pull within one, and tied the game in the eighth on an RBI single by Brown. Marymount took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on two run-scoring base hits.

In the elimination game, Immaculata took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single to center. Shuler gave the Knights the lead in the bottom of the inning on a two-run infield single. In the third, Tyler Kilmer and Brooks hit back-to-back RBI singles for a 4-1 lead. It took until the eighth, but the Mighty Macs got back into the game on a two-run single and  a bases loaded walk. In the bottom of the inning, Neumann retook the lead when Shuler walked with the bases loaded but an RBI single in the ninth sent the game into extra innings.

Immaculata went down in order in the top of the 10th but with one out in the bottom of the inning, Shuler doubled into left field. Anthony Rakotz followed with an RBI double to center field, plating Shuler, and giving the Knights the win in walk-off fashion.
