ASTON, Pa. – Neumann University Director of Athletics and Recreation,
John Krimmel, is proud to announce
Jason Petrin has been announced as their new Tennis coach for both the Men's and Women's squad.
Jason is no stranger to the Knights tennis program as he graduated from Neumann University in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. This past spring, he was an All-Atlantic East Conference Second team member in both singles and doubles. On March 31
st, he was named to the Atlantic East's weekly Honor Roll. In 2024, he was First team All-Conference in doubles, and Second team in singles.
"I'm truly honored and excited to return as head coach to the program I felt so at home in", Petrin remarked. "I am open to the changes I will need to make in transition from player to coach, and look forward to building on the program I once played in."
Petrin has also excelled in the classroom during his time at Neumann. He is a two-time Atlantic East Conference All-Academic selection, and a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District pick. In 2024, he was named an Inter-Collegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete.
From Woodstown, New Jersey, Petrin graduated from Woodstown High School in 2019. He was the Men's Tennis team captain and a member of the National Honor Society.
Deputy Athletic Director and Sports Administration for the Men's and Women's Tennis teams, David Deal, had this to say about Petrin's hiring. ""We're absolutely thrilled to have
Jason Petrin join us as the new head coach for our Men's and Women's Tennis teams. As a student-athlete, Jason was known for his leadership, work ethic, and competitive drive, the very qualities we believe are essential for a championship program. We know he will bring that same energy to expanding our recruiting efforts, developing our youth programs, and building two truly great teams."
When asked about how his experience as a Neumann student-athlete would help him in coaching, Petrin said, "My experience as a Neumann student-athlete allows me to connect with our current players both on and off the court. I understand the challenges of balancing academics and athletics, and having recently been in their position gives me valuable insight to support and guide them effectively."
Finally, Jason stated that his experience as a Knight will help him find the right student athletes to build the program. "Neumann University shaped me as a player and a person, and I am proud to display that to incoming recruits. I look forward to finding student-athletes that reflect the Neumann values, and I look forward to building a program that rises to the expectations."
