Women’s Volleyball Battles in Day One of Battlefield Classic

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team opened the 2025 season with two matches at the Battlefield Classic at Gettysburg College. The Knights fell 3-0 to Shenandoah University in the first match. Neumann followed with a 3-0 loss to host Gettysburg in the second match.
 
Set scores against the Hornets were 25-19, 25-22 and 25-18. Julia Solomon tallied 10 kills and a .350 hitting percentage. Melissa Eddy added eight kills. Kyla Sayson handed out 21 assists. Hannah Strohm tallied 17 digs.
 
The first set was close before Shenandoah held a 13-12 edge and started to build its lead. The Hornets scored seven of nine to take a 23-16 advantage before taking the set 25-19. Down 21-16 in set two, the Knights used three kills and a service error to pull within three, 21-20. The teams traded points down the stretch with the Hornets taking set two 25-22. Shenandoah held the pace in the third set for the 25-18 and 3-0 final.
 
Against the Bullets, set scores were 25-22, 25-12 and 25-13. Solomon tallied eight kills and Eddy six. Sayson dished out 11 assists. Strohm finished with 10 digs.
 
The teams battled in the first set. Tied at 21, Gettysburg used two kills and a service ace for three straight points. The Knights got one point back on an attack error before the Bullets took the set with a kill. Gettysburg held the pace in the second and third sets for the 3-0 match win.
 
Neumann is right back on the court tomorrow when it will face Grove City at 11:00 AM and Bridgewater at 4:00 PM.
