Knights Wrap Up Battlefield Classic action

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team wrapped up action at the Battlefield Classic at Gettysburg on Saturday. The Knights fell to Grove City 3-0 in the first match and then 3-1 to Bridgewater in the finale.
 
Soleil-La'Jour Staggs was named to the All-Tournament team.
 
Against Grove City, Melissa Eddy had nine kills and nine digs. Kyla Sayson handed out 15 assists. Hannah Strohm tallied 10 digs.
 
The Wolverines took control in the first two sets, winning 25-11 and 25-14. In set three, the Knights built a 15-9 advantage. Grove City scored five straight points to pull within one, 15-14. The teams then traded points before the Wolverines five points and seven of the next eight to take a 23-20 lead. Eddy notched a kill and a service ace for a 23-23 score, but they Knights could not tying point and fell 25-23.
 
Austin Raymer had seven kills and a .467 hitting percentage against Bridgewater. Eddy added six kills. Sayson dished out 14 assists. Strohm notched 20 digs and Eddy added 12.
 
The Eagles took the first two sets by scores of 25-9 and 25-14. In set three, the Knights scored the first four points. Neumann held the lead for most of set three, leading 23-18, Bridgwater tried to make a comeback, but two kills by Raymer gave the Knights their first set win of the season, 25-22.
 
Bridgewater used two long runs to take the fourth set 25-10 and the match 3-1.
 
Neumann (0-4) will open the home part of the schedule on Wednesday when it hosts Wilkes beginning at 7:00 PM.
