BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14.
Julia Solomon led the Knights with 11 kills and a .438 hitting percentage.
Kyla Sayson handed out 13 assists.
Hannah Strohm tallied 13 digs.
Melissa Eddy added seven kills and eight digs
The first set opened with a
Taylor Long kill, helping the Knights secure a 2-0 lead. The Gators took a 5-5 game and scored six straight points for an 11-5 advantage. The Knights answered back with contributions from Eddy and Solomon, narrowing the gap to 16-12. A late rally saw the Knights claw back to 24-20, highlighted by a service ace from Strohm and a kill from
Austin Raymer, but Notre Dame closed the set on a kill, 25-20.
The Knights built and early 4-2 lead in the second set before the Gators scored six straight points for an 8-4 advantage. Neumann drew to within two, 14-12, but Notre Dame (Md.) pulled away for the 25-18 set two win.
The third set began with Sayson delivering a service ace and the teams went back and forth. The Gators then built an 11-6 edge and continued to add to their lead to take set three 25-14.
Neumann (3-6) returns home next Wednesday to host Washington College (Md.) beginning at 7:00 PM.
