Men’s Hockey Takes Down Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team took a ride up the Northeast Extension to start a two-game Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) weekend against Wilkes University on Friday night. The Knights took the opener by a final score of 2-1.

Neumann got on the board first just over five minutes into the game when Tyler Kennedy took a wrist shot from the point. It was blocked and a mad scramble ensued. During the melee, Jake Barkley had a try, but it was Max Donohoe who tucked it in for his sixth of the season. 6:01 later, Wilkes responded with a rebound goal of their own, deadlocking the game at one after 20 minutes.

From there, both offenses were shut down as neither team could strike throughout the second period and deep into the third. With 3:53 left in regulation, and the Knights on the power play, Shawn Eliav wristed a shot from the blue line that found its way home for his first collegiate goal. Niko Tishkevich and Jared Coccimiglio nabbed assists and what would turn out to be the game-winning goal.

Lucas Culhane led the Knights with five shots on goal. Eliav, Akezhan Melis, Donohoe, and Judd Katz each contributed three shots on goal. Christian Green got the win in net with 32 saves.

Neumann (8-5-1, 7-2-1 MAC) will again take on Wilkes University in the finale of this weekend's two-game set, on Saturday evening starting at 5:30pm.
