ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Hockey team dropped a tough 2-1 decision on Senior Day against Hood College in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.
The Blazers scored the lone goal of the first period at the 15:54 mark while the teams were battling four-on-four. After a scoreless second period, the Knights turned the tide in the third.
Kaila Booth broke out of the defensive zone with a pass to
Sammie Haun. Haun moved over the Hood blue line and dropped the puck back to Booth, who wristed home her fourth goal of the season, and second of the weekend, tying the game at one.
As Neumann pressed for the lead goal, the Blazers were able to counter and take the lead themselves with four minutes remaining in regulation. The Knights had chances with their goalie pulled for an extra attacker but could not find the equalizer.
Harper Oakes led the team in shots on goal with four.
Chloe Ballew had three and
Kenna Sanders had two.
Noelle Woodard made 32 saves to keep Neumann close the entire afternoon. Woodard and Booth, joined
Alyssa Papasodero,
Gia Santorello,
Melissa Steinberger, and
Charlotte Labre on the ice in the pregame as they were celebrated for their Neumann Women's Hockey career.
Neumann (5-13, 3-11 MAC) will return to action on Friday evening as they host Arcadia University for a 4:00 PM puck drop.
