ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team defeated Arcadia University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game on Friday night by a final score of 5-2.
Neumann struck early in the game as
Max Donohoe deflected a
Lucas Culhane shot for a 1-0 lead after 52 seconds. A few minutes later, the Knights went on a major power play and took full advantage. At the 5:12 mark,
Shawn Eliav took a wrist shot from the point that was deflected in off a defenseman for his second goal of the season.
Jared Coccimiglio earned the lone assist for a two goal edge. 1:07 later, Culhane grabbed a rebound of a Donohoe shot and made it 3-0. Arcadia got on the board with 6:22 left in the period with a power play goal of their own.
Five minutes into the second, Neumann reestablished the three-goal lead with another power play goal as Donohoe scored his second goal of the game and eighth of the season.
Matt Dimaline and
Sonny DiNubile earned assists to make it 4-1 with 14:51 left in the frame. Just over two minutes later, Arcadia scored on a 2 on 0 to pull back within two after two. The third period went scoreless until an empty net goal by Culhane for his second of the game and seventh of the year, to seal the game.
Neumann had a strong evening on the penalty kill as they allowed just one power play goal on eight tries, including an extended 5 on 3. In addition to his two goals and an assist, Culhane led with six shots on goal. Coccimiglio and Dimaline added five each.
Cole DeFazio made 29 saves for the win as he was honored in the pregame senior night ceremony, along with

TJ Ezzard,
Ben Gibbons,
Zack Smith,
Chase Cochran,
Tony Andrews, and
Logan Gorbitz.
Neumann (11-7-1, 10-4-1 MAC) will return to the ice tomorrow afternoon when they host Alvernia University for a 4:00 PM start at the IceWorks Skating Complex.
