Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men’s Hockey Flies Past Dutchmen

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team guaranteed a first-place tie in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on Saturday night with a 6-1 win over Lebanon Valley College.

Max Donohoe led the Knights with two goals and an assist, while winning 17 of the 29 faceoffs he took. Shawn Eliav, Zack Smith, and Jake Barkley finished with a goal and an assist each. Both Tyler Ray and Matt Dimaline had two assists. Christian Green earned his 11th win of the season with 27 saves.

Neumann got the scoring started just 1:55 into the game when Hayden Pimm won an offensive zone draw to Dexton Mozell who pushed it back to Eliav. He skated the blue line then wristed in his third goal of the season. Four minutes later, on the power play, Ray one-timed a shot towards the goal and Donohoe deflected it in for a 2-0 lead.

With 3:14 left in the second, the Knights struck again on the power play. Eliav threw a pass back to Barkley. His pass to Jared Coccimiglio careened of the boards but recovered the puck and fired in his ninth goal of the season.

In the third period, it looked like Neumann would fire a shutout, but the Flying Dutchmen had other plans, scoring on the power play with 11:17 left in regulation. Neumann responded less than two minutes later as they moved in on a rush. Barkley directed in a Smith pass for his third goal of the year. At the 13:03 mark, the Knights scored another power-play goal as Smith slapped in a one-timer for his 13th goal of the season for an important insurance marker. Donohoe notched his 14th goal of the season with Neumann's fourth power play goal of the game to close out the scoring.

Tonight's Neumann (15-7-1, 14-4-1 MAC) win, combined with Stevenson's loss to Alvernia, will have them in the top seed in the upcoming MAC Postseason Tournament. They still have two games to play with an opportunity to take the regular season crown outright. Their next game will be on Sunday afternoon when they visit Misericordia University for a 3:30 PM start.
