WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team saw their five-game winning streak come to a halt on they dropped a 1-0 decision to Misericordia University on Sunday afternoon.
With the Knights shorthanded, Misericordia scored the lone marker of the game, a power play goal, on a backhander with 16:43 left in the first. Despite Neumann controlling the period and leading in shots, 17-6, the score remained at 1-0 after 20 minutes. The second period proved to be a physical test but was a scoreless affair. The third was more of the same with the Knights outshooting the Cougars 13-4 in the period, and 38-23 in the game, but Misericordia hung on for the win.
Jared Coccimiglio led the Knights with five shots on goal.
Dustin Patterson and
Max Donohoe each put up four shots.
Jake Barkley and
Dexton Mozell were both key in faceoff proficiency as Barkley won 17 of 24, and Mozell won nine of 11.
Cole DeFazio made 22 saves in goal.
Neumann (15-8-1, 14-5-1 MAC) will look to close out the regular season on a high note this Friday night when they visit King's College for a 7:00 PM start.
