FREDERICK, Md. – The Neumann University Women's Hockey team dropped a 3-2 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game against Hood College on Saturday afternoon.
Hood scored the lone goal of the first period with 6:19 remaining. They also scored the only goal of the second, 4:20 into the period. With 5:57 left in the third, Neumann got on the board.
Brooke Markley sent a pass to the point and
Gia Santorello wristed in a shot to pull the Knights within one. 1:07 later, the Blazers regained their two-goal edge. At the 18:35 mark, and with the goalie pulled, Santorello struck again as she circled in from the slot and fired in her sixth goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as they could not find the tying goal.
Santorello,
Kaila Booth, and
Sammie Haun had six shots on goal each.
Alyssa Papasodero and
Charlotte Labre each blocked three shots to lead the Knights. Labre also had a strong performance in the faceoff dot as she won 10 of the 13 she took.
Noelle Woodard made 30 saves in goal.
Neumann (6-18, 4-16 MAC) will close out the season on Friday night when the host King's College for a 6:00 PM start.
