ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball closed out the home portion of the regular season with a 84-76 win over Marywood University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday night.
Donte Dupriest led the Knights with his 15
th double-double of the season as he picked up 25 points and 11 rebounds, adding four assists and two steals.
Izaiah Johnson Young-El contributed 20 points while
Bryan Etienne added 18.
Neumann got off to a solid start with an 8-6 lead after five minutes of play. From there, they went on an 11-7 push to lead by six at the midway point of the half. Marywood answered over the next 2:49 with 12 of the next 14 points, taking a 25-21 lead with 7:18 remaining in the first. The got up as high as eight with 3:29 remaining but the Knights dropped three straight three-pointers, including one from
Aarick Salata to pull ahead by one with 1:24 left. The Pacers scored the last four points half to lead by three at halftime.
The Knights started the second with a 16-8 run over the first 4:52 of the half to lead 54-49. Marywood regrouped during a 7-2 run to tie the game once again. Neumann took the lead for good with a 14-5 run during the next 4:31, nabbing their largest lead of the game at nine. The Pacers fought valiantly over the next two minutes, pulling within two with a 9-2 run but a 12-6 run by the Knights sealed the game.
Neumann (15-9, 7-6 Atlantic East) will finish the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a road game against Centenary University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM
