WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Hockey dropped a 9-0 decision against regionally-ranked Wilkes University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game on Friday afternoon.
Just over a minute into the game, Wilkes thought they scored the game's opening goal, but it was ruled to have been deflected in by a high stick. They responded to that disappointment with a goal 45 seconds later for a 1-0 lead, just 1:53 in. With 14:15 left, the Colonels added a second goal on the rebound, and a third on a 2-on-1, three minutes after that. Wilkes picked up two more goals in the last five minutes of the period to lead 5-0 after 20 minutes. The Colonels added two goals in the second period and two in third to complete the scoring.
Charlotte Labre and
Chloe Ballew led the offensive effort with three shots on goal each. On the defensive side,
Gia Santorello blocked three shots with
Melissa Steinberger,
Kaila Booth,
Addy Hunter, and Labre blocking two shots each.
Brook Adams got the start in goal making 13 saves while
Noelle Woodard came in with 4:16 left in the first and made 38.
Neumann (5-16, 3-14 MAC) will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Stevenson University in another MAC conference clash, starting at 2:00 PM.
